Speaking of Shoes

While we're making lists of what we want, I would like to add these. Crossing fingers that these are the shoes I'll wear for my wedding this year.

New Year, New Shoes

Let's resurrect this blog!

These Marc by Marc Jacobs loafers are so awesome. And they are on their way to me! Living the San Francisco life means I never wear heels (they are all hibernating in my closet).  There's no dress code at my office and these shoes are delightfully quirky enough to wear to work but interesting enough to wear out at night.

Friday Favorites

I have been watching this show ever since they aired it back in the day on Nick at Nite. I'm sure you remember the lineup that included The Wonder Years, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and Happy Days. I received the complete series set from my boyfriend last year for a birthday gift, making it one of my most favorite gifts to ever receive. I've probably watched every episode a hundred times, and I still laugh like it's the first time I've seen it. I credit Lucille Ball with my love of gingers to this very day. When I moved out of Vermont Tom and I took a little detour to Jamestown, NY which happens to be her hometown. I totally geeked out on all things Lucy by visiting the museums and almost every landmark that was credited to her. I highly recommend her memoir Love, Lucy along with the I Love Lucy board game for all Lucy fans. The best part is that I have now gotten my younger sister hooked on Lucy so we now have Lucy bonding moments. And now, cue Lucy homage:

Road Trip!

I've been busy traveling on a few road trips last month what with weddings, graduations, and a quick holiday weekend with the boyfriend and his family so I figured I would do a little post on some convenient packing tips that helped me. If you're anything like me, then you likely overpack too many clothes that only end up taking valuable suitcase space. Luckily, there's help for the mini hoarders in all of us.

1. Organize. I hate both packing and unpacking. I'm the type of person who doesn't touch my suitcase until about a week after I return, mainly because that's when I likely need to do laundry. I had a gift card to Vera Bradley for my birthday so I decided I would go ahead and buy a hanging organizer for myself. Gene-balls idea! I love this because of all of the zippers so I can keep things separated, i.e. shower stuff, skincare, contacts stuff, etc.

2. Makeup. I normally keep my makeup fairly simple unless I know I need to get fancy somewhere. My basics include: tinted moisturizer, mascara, and lip balm. I may actually head over to my local Target to get this cute makeup bag. Best part is that it has 2 separate compartments! I swear, I'm not OCD. I just really enjoy compartmentalizing everything. I wonder what that says about me.

3. Packing. I learned from Farleigh that it saves way more space if you roll your clothes versus traditionally folding them. All I can say is true story! It's especially more convenient for me now in the warmer months because I mainly wear skirts and dresses whenever I go out so I don't have the heaviness of denim. I also pack outfits for each day that I'm on vacay plus 1-2 spares depending on how long I'm gone. And I have gotten better at only packing 1 extra pair of shoes instead of 3-4 (Yes, I have done that before. Ask me how many times did I actually wear every pair of shoes when on vacation.) You may also ask, so what about wrinkles? No need to pack an iron when you have the Downy Wrinkle Release. Seriously, just found this stuff today in the travel size toiletries section of Target. Talk about a life saver. I may never travel without this ever again.

So those are my main tips on trying to get the packing thing right. Let me know what other tips you may have for packing light.

Wanted: New Motivation

I've been on vacay for the past couple of weeks for weddings and graduations so obvi this means I've fallen off the bandwagon gotten sidetracked with my running. I decided to hit the gym tomorrow morning and the best way for me to get some motivation is to add some new songs to my iPod. Some of these are new and some are oldies but goodies. What are the odds I'll wake up tomorrow with a body like Shakira? Or how about Scarlett Johansson a la The Avengers, which was fan-freaking-tastic. Joss Whedon is geneballs.

Beyonce "Countdown"

Carly Rae Jepsen "Call Me Maybe"

Nicki Minaj "Starships"

Shakira "Hips Don't Lie"

Let me know if you have any other recommendations. One of my favorite parts about listening to music while working out is listening to my guilty pleasures on repeat.

Happy Birthday, Stumpz!

Oh Stumpz, it's your birthday again!! You gave me my first memory of Vermont after we hung out at Crossroads and then my itty-bitty apartment afterwards. Love and miss you!
