Doctor Who's 500 Miles
I'm pretty much obsessed with this. The Doctor, his companions, cast members and crew, and an awesome song.
How can anybody object?!? On another note, there is currently a tornado watch (as per usual this time of year) so obvi I am distracting myself with Doctor Who vids.

Buckingham Palace and no pants? My, my Mr. Holmes.
Sherlock Holmes has been experiencing quite a few makeovers recently, and while I'd love to give a lot of props to the Downey-Law bromance, they barely hold a tiny flame to Sherlock. A sleek, modernized re-telling with enough allusions to the books that you don't feel as though the story has been cribbed by middle schooler (sorry Guy, your gritty, dour, steam-punky remakes leave something to be desired). The cast fits well together, and Benedict Cumberbatch delivers Homles' rapier wit with ease. Again, I always end up fancying Holmesesque men, god knows what that says about me.
Series 2 has just premiered, and boy did it. I won't spoil anything, but the first series is three, ninety-minute episodes. They are currently on Netflix. You have your homework. Oh, and here's a sampler for series one.

Best Christmas Party Outfit
I couldn't find a better picture, but Mindy Kaling's outfit is adorable. Gold sequined blazer, taupe blouse, red pencil skirt. Perfect and I want that blazer. Also, Kelly Kapoor was amazeballs in this episode. I have definitely been called in to be mean to new girlfriends.

New Show to Watch: Torchwood

Torchwood my friends. It is the perfect remedy for these dark, long days. Quick synopsis of Torchwood goes like this: Captain Jack Harkness, former Time Agent and con man from the 51st century last seen traveling with the Doctor, ventures to early 21st century Cardiff. There, he becomes a member of Torchwood Institute, a renegade criminal investigation group founded by Queen Victoria to battle hostile extraterrestrial and supernatural threats. Um, excellent.

A Battle of the Mr. Darcys
Pride and Prejudice happens to be one of all-time favorite stories. Ever. Let's be honest, it's because Mr. Darcy happens to be the most romantic figure in all of literature, and his story with Elizabeth Bennett grips my heart every single time. Lucky for me, there have been many film adaptations of this story. My two favorites happen to be the 1980 version and the 1995 version, both of which happen to be produced by BBC.

In my opinion, this version trumps the '95 version. The quality definitely shows that it was made in the late 70s/early 80s. That being the said, this has the best Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. And hello, let's talk about Mr. Darcy. I think David Rintoul portrayed him the best and really nails the differences in how his character interacts with Elizabeth throughout the novel. Definitely swoon-worthy.

Obviously, the best part of the 1995 version is Colin Firth. I still prefer the previous Mr. Darcy but Colin Firth is so absolutely fantastic in this. Colin Firth is still definitely swoon-worthy but I still think David Rintoul portrayed Mr. Darcy best. On the other hand, this version has a wonderful lake scene. You know which one I'm talking about (And if you don't, then I highly recommend you to watch this ASAP).
Enough of my nerd-dom. I do love Jane Austen and will continue to read P&P at least once every year and bury myself in the story of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett. I definitely recommend reading P&P,especially if you happen to be a ridiculous hopeless romantic like I am. It's more than just a book on most school reading lists.

Grimm vs. Once Upon a Time
At first I wasn't going to watch either of these shows, but once I realized that both shows are helmed by Buffy alum, I had to watch.
a little darker, more suspense...I need to see more than the pilot though...but it has potential. Definitely see the Buffy lineage in this one, it has a similar storyline (being "the chosen")
might be interesting...written by some of the writers from Lost...the pilot was pretty bad at some points, I was mostly just wishing and hoping that Ginnifer Goodwin would stop crying. I can't see myself committing to watching a whole season of this...but I'll give it another chance. I don't like precocious little kids so that's a minus

Revenge

Ok people. Listen up. The best new show on television is Revenge. Everything about it, from the plot twists and turns to the one-liners is perfection. I love it for so many reasons, one being the main character is a psychopath, a beautifully dressed psychopath but one nonetheless. The delight she takes in decimating people (I will not give even the hint of a spoiler away in my fan-girl blathering about this show), makes watching the plot lines thrilling.
Have you ever daydreamed about making someone's life hell (just me, moving right along)? Revenge follows Emily Thorne, who proves that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned or actually in this case the consequence of having a father wrongly convicted of loads of terrible things and being sent away to a home as a wee one, makes Emily a sad, scorned panda. A sad panda in perfect clothes with a outrageous Hampton beach-side manor and the will to kill but whatever. She sets out on seeking revenge upon all of the fools who did poor Papa in many moons ago. She does all this without ever messing up her hair and while making out with a pretty hot dude. Oh and there is a dog for those of you who need cute animals to feel better about the world. The damn dog might be 100 years old due to the writer's using some President Bush style funny math to add to the plot, but whatever. There is something for everyone in this show.
Watch it on Hulu. I'm only going to ask you this once. And because I'm sweet, here is the link: http://www.hulu.com/search?query=Revenge&st=1&fs=
